The Barrier

Women survivors of trauma often have a hard time to reintegrate in society especially in underserved communities. Shattered confidence, lack of awareness and access to opportunities keeps them from breaking the barriers

Our Initiative

School of Second Chances is more than a skills program, it is a second chance at life. By equipping women with the confidence, skills, and opportunities they need to thrive, SOSC transforms survivors into leaders and entrepreneurs, breaking cycles of trauma and building pathways to independence and dignity

Our Approach

Self-Paced Learning

12 to 18 months of program with support from peers and mentors

Holistic Skill Development

Focus on nutrition, multi-cuisine cooking, English communication, digital literacy, and personality grooming

Future Textile Designer Course

Created especially for students from vulnerable backgrounds including those from low-income households, rural communities, or those who have overcome significant life challenges. By the end of the program, you will become expert designers with future ready skills like upcycling, complex pattern drafting and designing and revival of traditional arts of hand printing, block printing and other stitch based crafts

What You'll Learn

Through immersive, hands-on learning, you’ll gain:

  • Foundational design skills: Colour theory, moodboarding, trend research

  • Textile techniques: Stitching, weaving, fabric manipulation, surface lavel design

  • Product development: Prototyping, costing, material sourcing

  • Language and communication: Functional English, expression through design, Skill Development

  • Digital literacy: Basic computer skills, AI Tools, design documentation

  • Industry exposure: Guest sessions, site visits, and portfolio development

  • Entrepreneurial thinking: Sustainable design practices, storytelling, and market readiness

Enroll women from shelter homes, sex workers, HIV-positive communities, reformed prisoners, and beyond

Launch new courses like Super-Nanny to develop skills in infant care and early childhood development

Develop a lean, open-source program that can be adopted by NGOs and government bodies for larger impact

Create a digital platform for flexible work opportunities, supported by Samyarth Cooperative to find customers for home-based businesses like tiffin services and organic food delivery
